Oxypro® Opening Instructions

Key messages

  • Oxypro® is now the preferred oral oxycodone prolonged release preparation in NHSGGC. See previous blog for further details here.
  • Oxypro® is packaged in child-resistant blister packaging and the tablets cannot be pressed out of the blister.  
  • Problems have been reported with opening the packaging of Oxypro® and patients need to be physically able to open the blister.

The instructions above are included in the patient information leaflet (PIL) and this should be provided to patients. The company has also produced additional patient support materials here including a short video showing how the pack should be opened.
