Medicines Update

Medicines Update Bulletins

Formerly known as PostScript these bulletins have been re-launched as Medicines Update. 

The bulletins provide information on:

  • Medicines safety messages
  • Recent GGC incidents and associated learning
  • New Guidelines (local & national)
  • Major changes to Formulary/prescribing practices

 

There are currently 5 bulletins produced each with slightly differing remit:

Medicines Update        

Target audience: Prescribers and other healthcare professionals both in primary care and the acute sector

Frequency of publication: Every 2 months

Medicines Update Acute

Target audience: Prescribers and other healthcare professionals in the acute sector

Frequency of publication: Every 2 months

Medicines Update Primary Care

Target audience: Prescribers and other healthcare professionals in primary care

Frequency of publication: Monthly

Community Pharmacy Update

Target audience: Community pharmacists and supporting staff

Frequency of publication: Monthly

Medicines Update Extra

Target audience: Prescribers and other healthcare professionals both in primary care and the acute sector.  This is a more detailed bulletin and provides summaries of the evidence base for various medicines and therapies. It provides a ready reference for busy healthcare professionals.

Frequency of publication: Variable – as appropriate.

 

Accessing & subscribing to the bulletins

The bulletins are available electronically on this website (www.ggcmedicines.org.uk) and may also be viewed on a mobile device via the GGC Medicines App.

 

Monthly notification of newly published bulletins is communicated via an email cascade.  If you do not currently receive such notifications but would like to - please email medicines.update@ggc.scot.nhs.uk giving your name, job title and the email address at which you would like to receive the notifications.
