Kids’ corner: Yellow cards for children

The MHRA have changed their guidelines for reporting suspected adverse drug reactions (ADRs) in children and adolescents under 18 years. ADR reporting should be the same as for adults:

  • Report all suspected ADRs that are serious or result in harm.  Serious reactions are:
    • fatal, life-threatening, disabling or incapacitating, or
    • cause a congenital abnormality, or
    • result in hospitalisation, or
    • are considered medically significant.
  • Report all suspected ADRs associated with new drugs and vaccines (identified by the black triangle symbol ▼).
